New Families Start Here
We’re so glad you’re here. Raising Primaries classes are designed to be relaxed, child-led, and rooted in connection with nature and each other. Here’s what to expect:

🌱 What to Bring
-
Water bottle for you and your child (parents remain on site for all classes)
-
A light snack (we enjoy a snack together, during story time!)
-
A blanket or small chair for your “nest” (our gathering space)

🧺 Our “Nest”
Each family sets up a small space, like a picnic blanket, where belongings and snacks stay during class. This helps create a calm and organized flow while children explore. It also keeps others safe from allergens.

🌦️ Dress for the Weather
We are outdoors in all seasons, so come prepared:
-
On hot days, bring a portable fan, wear light clothing
-
On cold days, layers are your best friend
-
Rain boots, jackets, hats, etc.
-
Leave a spare change of clothes in the car!
-
Classes are held rain or shine unless conditions are unsafe.
-
Adults need gear, too!

Not All Classrooms Have Walls
Enhancing Skills Through Creativity
At Raising Primaries, we believe that real learning happens in motion — when hands are muddy, hearts are open, and curiosity leads the way. Children learn best when their bodies are active, their senses are engaged, and their imaginations are free to roam.
Our outdoor classrooms invite children to:
-
🌿 Observe & Question – noticing patterns, weather changes, and wildlife, sparking natural curiosity about science and the world around them.
-
🌸 Count & Measure – using sticks, stones, and puddles to explore early math concepts in meaningful, tangible ways.
-
🐞 Read & Tell Stories – through songs, nature tales, and shared storytelling that build language and literacy skills.
-
🍂 Create & Experiment – blending art, movement, and discovery in a way that connects mind, body, and spirit.
When children learn outdoors, they aren’t just absorbing information — they’re experiencing it. The open air fuels focus, strengthens confidence, and supports emotional regulation. Rather than sitting still behind a desk, our learners move, explore, and connect with the living world — building both knowledge and a lifelong love for learning.
Because at Raising Primaries, we know that not all classrooms have walls — and some of the best lessons are found under the trees. 🌳
