Class Policies

- with RAISING PRIMARIES LLC -

These policies apply to all classes, events, and services provided by Raising Primaries LLC, Raising Primaries North LLC, and any affiliated instructors, contractors, or representatives.

Sibling Policy

We love welcoming the whole family to Raising Primaries! To ensure classes remain developmentally appropriate and materials are available for enrolled students, we ask families to follow these sibling guidelines:

Seedlings & Sprout Scouts
  • Children under 24 months may attend Sprout Scouts free of charge when accompanying an enrolled sibling.

  • Children ages 24 months and older who regularly attend Sprout Scouts must be enrolled. A family rate is available.

  • Once two children from the same family are enrolled, additional siblings may attend free of charge.

  • Older siblings (ages 3+) should not attend Seedlings unless they are also enrolled in Sprout Scouts.

Trailblazers
  • Tag-along siblings ages 0-5 may attend free of charge when accompanying an enrolled Trailblazer.

  • Participating siblings who are too young to enroll may purchase a Materials Only Bundle. This option is intended for younger siblings who would enjoy participating in our hands-on activities alongside their caregiver, while recognizing that the curriculum and instruction are designed for enrolled Trailblazers.

  • Trailblazers lessons, materials, and activities are designed for enrolled students within the program age range.

Caregiver Responsibilities

Both Tag-along and participating siblings must remain under the supervision of their caregiver at all times. Caregivers are responsible for assisting younger children and helping them participate in a developmentally appropriate manner.

Occasional Guests

If a school-aged sibling needs to attend class occasionally due to a school closure or schedule change, please notify your guide in advance so materials can be prepared. A drop-in fee may apply.

Safety & Supervision

🌿 Shared Responsibility

Each child attends class with a parent or caregiver ("Guide"). Guides remain responsible for supervising their child throughout class while teachers support families and create opportunities for safe exploration and learning.

🪵 Safe Risk-Taking

We believe children learn through adventure, exploration, and age-appropriate risk-taking. Teachers encourage children to challenge themselves while providing clear boundaries when a child's actions could pose a safety concern for themselves or others.

🩹 First Aid & Preparedness

A First Aid Kit is available at every class. Teachers review allergies and activity materials before each lesson and strive to provide activities that are safe, age-appropriate, and adaptable to a variety of needs.

⚠️ Safety Lessons

Whenever necessary, teachers will discuss safety expectations before activities and provide guidance to caregivers so that everyone can work together to keep children safe.

🍎 Snacks & Allergies

Families are welcome to bring snacks and drinks to class. To help minimize allergen exposure and distractions, we ask that food and drinks remain at your family's "nest" (blanket, chairs, or gathering area) rather than being carried throughout class.

Please be mindful of common allergens and communicate any significant allergies during registration.

Sickness Policy

If you or your child are feeling sick with something potentially contagious, it's preferred you stay home from class until symptoms have improved. Children/adults with fevers and/or contagious rashes cannot join class. You are always welcome to make up a class at a later date during the same season.

Class Substitution Policy

  • If you can’t make your regular class, we welcome you to join the same lesson on another day that same week (if there is space). Please keep in mind that the alternate class may be held at a different location, which might not be as close to you.

  • Because Friday is our last class day of the week, Friday families who need to switch days should attend the Wednesday class before their scheduled Friday class whenever possible. This allows your child to participate in that week's lesson rather than a repeat lesson.

  • We hold classes outdoors in all four seasons, rain or snow, as long as conditions are safe.

Alternative Caregivers Welcome

We understand that work schedules and family commitments can sometimes make attendance challenging. If you are unable to attend a class, another trusted caregiver, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, nannies, or family friends, is welcome to attend with your child. We encourage families to take advantage of this option whenever possible so children can continue participating in class and maintaining connections with their peers. 🌿

Class Cancellations & Make-Up Policy

At Raising Primaries, we do not take canceling class lightly. We understand that families have committed their time, resources, and trust to our programs, and we make every effort to ensure that scheduled classes take place whenever possible.

In the event of unsafe weather, emergencies, or instructor illness, our first priority is to provide a replacement class. Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

• A substitute class offered at another park during the same week
• A make-up class held on a different day
• A make-up class held at an alternate location

While we work hard to accommodate our families, it is not always possible to find a make-up option that works for every family's schedule. We ask for flexibility and understanding as we do our best to honor the value of your full-season enrollment by providing a reasonable replacement opportunity.

Weather can be a master deceiver, so we make the final call 90 minutes before class. Most of the time, the weather holds out and class goes on!
We will reschedule only if:

  • Heat index is 99°F or higher

  • Thunder or lightning is present

  • Heavy rain

  • Active snowstorms

  • Wind chill of 10°F or below

Please note that if class is held as scheduled and your family chooses not to attend due to weather or personal preference, the absence will be treated as a regular missed class and is not eligible for a make-up class or refund.

We are committed to providing a full and meaningful season of outdoor learning and will always make every reasonable effort to reschedule classes affected by circumstances beyond our control.

Photo Policy

Each family sets their photo preferences on the Registration Form. Occasionally, a support photographer (a parent with a child in the same class) helps capture moments so the teacher can stay fully present. Supporters only share photos with the teacher.

The supporter will be introduced during the opening circle, and any requests to remain off-camera should be communicated at that time. If you prefer your child not be photographed, please decline photo permissions and kindly remind the support photographer as needed. We respect boundaries but may need gentle reminders.

Photos may appear only on:

  • @raisingprimaries Instagram

  • Facebook Page or Group

  • Our website

  • Occasionally in parenting groups with permission

We never share children’s names online, and children are only photographed with written caregiver consent. Safety and privacy are our top priorities!
